I'd like to start this review by stating that I've had unbearable Plantar Fasciitis for almost exactly a year in my right foot. I've tried so many different shoes and insoles and wraps and braces and stretches and massages, and nothing made much difference to the intense pain I would feel every morning and about halfway through my shifts at work (40 hrs/week on my feet). My next step after consulting with my doctor was to have x-rays done on my foot to see if a bone spur was causing the pain, and barring that, receiving a cortisone shot in my foot.Being anxious about the cost of x-rays and more doctor visits, I turned to the internet for any other suggestions and found recommendations for splints such as this one. I figured spending an extra ~$20 couldn't hurt in the long run - if this helped, I'll have saved hundred on extra treatments! If it didn't help, it's just a drop in the bucket at this point. The first night after it was delivered went okay. To try and get used to it, I just wore it while I was on the couch watching TV. I noticed how it stretched my foot out and felt a small amount of relief. I learned quickly that while walking in this splint is possible, it's fairly uncomfortable and I only do it now if I have to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.Sleeping in this splint is awful for me. I never could sleep with anything on my feet, even sheets or socks, and now I have to try and force myself to sleep while wearing a big plastic "boot". It's difficult to keep it on some nights, and some nights I get annoyed and rip it off in the middle of the night. Sometimes I have to take a little bit of Zzzquil just to be able to fall asleep while wearing it. For me, the comfort level is certainly not ideal. It's bulky stiff plastic that gets kind of warm, and my foot doesn't like to sit at a perfect 90° angle in it unless I keep the Velcro straps tight enough to cut off circulation and make my foot numb. I've found a "happy medium" where my heel raises out of the heel section just a little bit, and the straps aren't way too tight, and it still seems to be effective. As uncomfortable as this thing is to wear, I force myself to sleep in it about 80% of the time because it really does help with my Plantar Fasciitis. I have a little bit of stiffness in my foot in the morning, but nowhere near the amount of pain I normally would have. I can make it through an entire shift at work without limping, though I still have noticeable discomfort around 6 hours into my shifts (keep in mind that I spend my entire 8 hour shifts on my feet with no comfort mats, and I only get a single 10min break to sit down during my shift). When I get out of my car after work, I don't have to hobble to my door anymore.I'm hoping that with continued use of this splint, my condition will improve enough that I never have to make those doctor appointments for this issue. I just wish the splint was smaller, or lighter, or didn't absorb my body heat so much... anything to make it more comfortable to wear overnight!
